Back in the 70's, I worked at TI with a friend named Charlie Cox.
Charlie had made a sunglass holster clip and let me copy it.
I haven't seen Charlie in many years.

This clip allows you to quickly attach and unattach something from your belt, 
with out it coming off accidentally.


I've made several of these for things:
wrap around sunglass holster
pistol holster
CellPhone Holster

The sunglasses case is little simpler than the others, it only has two bends. 
I wanted the phone close to my hip so I left out an extra fold of aluminum.
I use .056" aluminum, 1-3/4" wide for the clip.

I made a bending tool similar to the one I used to use only this time I used 1/4" bolts and a support bracket at the end.
I sawed the head off of two 1/4-20 bolts, then welded them together, parallel, spaced about 3/16" apart. 
I welded the cut off bolt heads as braces to hold the two bolts parallel. 

I had some 2" aluminum angle and I needed a 1-3/4" strip by 10-1/2" long, so I marked it and sawed it out.

The 1-3/4" strip sawed from the angle and edges chamfered with a file.   You can see the pencil marks for drilling lacing holes.

The new holster clip and my wraparound sunglasses holster, I used it's clip as a rough model for the pistol holster clip.   You'll note the metal curves up higher than the sunglass clip, to support the holster in a higher position.   You can also see the holes drilled in the holster clip for sewing the metal clip to the leather.

I know the leather work isn't great, so look at the clip. I wanted the phone up high so it wouldn't ride up when I sit down.
