Planer Stuff
Sled
I had a high end thickness planer (Jet JPM-13CS) I loved, but my shop is so
small I can't afford the space.
So I bought a DeWalt benchtop planer (DW735x), mounted,
with a Jet spindle sander, on a roll-around bench with lots of storage.
I regularly use 1/8" pine slabs as faces for inset panels
but they are bad about the ends shattering or sniping.
So, its time for a planer sled.
The DW735 is a great planer, it does a good job and has a very good chip blower.
The chip blower caused problems when I automated my big dust collector system.
One of the design goals for my updraft valves was they were never changed while the DC blower was on.
But one function of the automation senses current drawn by a tool's motor, turnerd on, opens the valve then the starts the DC blower.
The pressure from the DW735's blower made it impossible to switch the updraft valve.
So I had to come up with a low resistance slder valve for the DW735.

I saw articles about helix blades which are pricey ($400).   There are several manufacturers of helix cutters for the DW735: Shelix, Dark Stone, Byrd?, Lux, and Newman.
