Betty has suggested we make a smaller trash bin for our den that uses a 13 gal. trash bag.
Most of these are 13 gal. and measure 24" wide X 24" high laying flat.
The tall kitchen bags are 24" X 27" high.
The smaller bin computed out to be 14 X 9.5 X 19 hi, but Betty thought that looked too tall, so I reduced it's height to 15"
A gallon is 231 in³ so 13 gallons are 3003 in³.
These bins are smaller than the trash bag but hold enough to make it very useful.
I thought it would be interesting to look at the ratio between the bin's volume and the bag's advertised volume.
The larger bin is 16.5 X 11 X 31 high or 5626.5 in³ = 24 gal.
A ratio of 0.62
This small bin is 14 X 9.5 X 15 or 1995 in³ or 8.6 Gal.
A ratio of 0.661

The main "box" after gluing.
This box is made of 5mm underlayment from Lowes, with mitered corners, just like the storage bins in the shop.
This stuff sands up and paints great.

Thats a 13 gal trash sack, it fits snugly around the top of the box.

I put felt pads on everything on our laminate floor, no scratches, ever.

The flapper just sits in a pair of notches.
Thats a 8-1/2" long 1/4" dowel as the axle.
