Saw Blade Storage

I have been accumulating (mostly old) saw blades for my table saw, miter saw, and cicurlar saw hanging on large wall board screws in the wall.   This makes them hard to distinguish and very difficult to handle.   So I decided to make a stoage shelf for them.

I have two sizes of saw blades, 10" (table and miter saws) and 7-1/4" (circular saw).
I know this is going to be heavy, so I found some 3/4" plywood and made the shelf.   The bottom and back will be 12" long and 8" wide.   I sawed 3/16" wide and 3/16" deep matching grooves, every 1/2" in the bottom and back pieces.   If you wan a little more space cut the grooves on 3/4" or even 1" centers.   I glued and screwed the bottom and back together, then cut triagular end pieces, also from 3/4" plywood, and glued and screwed these to the back and bottom (see diagram).

Since this storage shelf is only 12" wide, I screwed a 1-1/2" X 1-1/2" by 20" wooden bar across two wall studs and set the shelf on top of this, with long wall board screws through the back of the shelf into a stud.

Sorry I didn't take pics during construction but this is pretty straight forward.

You can just see the saw blade storage rack hidden between a cut-off shelf and the large Dust collector filter shelf.

A little closer and better lit pic of the saw blade storage rack (or shelf).   Note the blades on the right end, old, they have not been used since I had them sharpened at "Precision Sharpening" in Mesquite years ago.

Close still, the grooves don't quite come out to the front of the shelf.

Looking straight on at the blades on the rack.   Note the 7-1/4" blades and 1 brand new Freud 10" blade.
