Dowel Storage

I have been troubled with my inefficient dowel rod storage in the past.   It was always difficult to find the material, size, and length I needed.

So I came up with the idea of storing them in clear plastic tubes, with open bottoms, hanging from the ceiling.   I know the "Open Bottom" thing sounds strange but please let me explain.
I thought if I bung a cup below the open end of the dowel storage tube, suspended with strings, it would hold the dowels in the tub and allow me to seee what diameters and materials they were made of.

It's a simple gadget but it works great for storing dowel rods.

One of the dowel storage tubes.

The cup on this one is a 3" PVC cap.

A little closer look at the dowel storage tubes hanging from hooks on the wall.   You can just barely see the nylon lines goind up to the hooks at the top.

Lower end of the dowel storage tubes, 3 clear and 1 PVC.   To use a dowel, push it up, then to the side and remove it downward.

Close look at lower end of dowel storage tube and cup holding bottom end of dowel rods.
