Nano RS-485 Gateway
|
The redesgn of the Shop Gateway from Rpi-3 with RS-232 Comm. to Nano Ethernet with RS-485 Comm, changed the mechanical format, drastically, I needed new mounting boxes. The addition of RS-485 networking instead of RS232, required a driver board at each box, so this is the result. I'm sticking with the cheap and dirty 3/16" plywood, since it's easy to work and I have a lot of scrap available. Basic format of a station: a PCB holding the electronic components (Nano, MAX485, etc., mounted on a pair of 1/2" x 1/2" wooden bars

Nano RS-485 Gateway
Will need several slots/holes drilled and cut into the box: a 1/4" wide slot in front of the MAX485 for it's cable, two 1/2" round holes high in each side for ventilation, a 1/2" round hole in the back for the power plug.
For the RS-485 Nano Mount:
Only requires a Nano and a MAX485 board.
The RS-485 cable will supply communication and +5 volt power.
