I decided to buy a new lathe, my old Delta 1440 was not as powerful as I'd like and it wasn't as accurate as I liked.
Also, I had been having problems getting parts for my other Delta tools and was phasing Delta out of my shop.
I have already: replaced the lathe's power switch with a non delta part, replaced my Delta drill press (Reves pulley wallowed out) with a Jet, I have had to repair my Delta 12" disk sander's power switch, bed tilt adjustment, and dust port.
So all in all Delta must go!
Jet had a sale on their JWL1442VS so I ordered it from Rockler's.
When it arrived one of my concerns were realized in that it wouldn't neatly fit onto my lathe bench (which I dearly love).
I figured if I lengthened the support blocks the lathe's weight would still be on the edges of the lathe top.
So I unmounted the old lathe, ran an add on Craig's List and sold it, along with the new cast iron legs for the new lathe, to a nice lady from Houston.
I built two new longer support blocks and mounted the lathe.
