Old Green Back Bath
02/22/16: Page Origin.

The folks who owned the house before we did, really liked dark GREEN, hence the tile and counter top in this bath.

Looking North, the white bath mats helped a lot but when you look down you see GREEN

Every room in the house had wallpaper with a wide border at the top.   Here not only the wide border makes the tiny room look smaller but the cabinet above the toilet is large and dwarfs it.   Note the GREEN counter top.   Also notice the hand towel hanging from a hook on the side of the large cabinet, I normally need a bath towel and two hand towels in my bath.

Note the fir down above the tub, like most houses of this age, is enclosed, I intend to open it up as a storage area with doors.   My gradpaw was a finish carpenter and every house he worked on had storage above the tubs.   Also GREEN border and GREEN tiles soon begin to be ugly.

I have a problem with the cabinet on the South wall, it sticks up too high and obstructs any door opening to access the fir down.   The lower part also partially covers the switch plate and it requires a seperate towel bar.   I know the electricians had to nail the switch box to a stud, but in such a small room, putting it in the middle of the wall doesn't leave much wall for other things.

Closer look at the small shelf under the wall cabinet it partially covers the switch plate and requires a seperate towel bar.

Closer look at obstructive cabinet side frame.   You can also see the busy wallpaper, mostly green border, and green tiles above the tub.

That large border, also containing GREEN, is almost opressive.

Even GREEN tile in the shower.

The hole for the vent fan, I already removed the cover.

Border border everywhere.

The vanity, with GREEN Tile.   If you look at the wallpaper, just above the base board, you'll notice how it is yellowing.   Also notice how large the cabinet is above the toilet and the toilet paper holde's position.

Back side of the toilet paper holder, notice how far the screws are protruding into the storage area, they hang on everything you put in or take out.

Everything used in this bath but it still isn't full.

I think the guy who owned before us put the GREEN tile top on and did the scalloped moulding.

Mirror above the vanity.

Large cabinet above the toilet, It is massive compared to the toilet and vanity.   The sides used to go all the way to the floor, even more overwhelming!   After a water heater leak, I got rid of the boards to the floor which improved the overall looks and access to the toilet.
Even though you can't quite see the GREEN Tile tile on the floor, it still darkens the whole room!

I'm thinking about doing away with this cabinet altogether.   The new vanity will have a large slider, drawers, and the new cabinet by the light switch will have an extra shelf which will provide enough storage to not need this behemouth especially in this tiny bathroom.
